Multi-Township EMS is offering lessons on how to perform “Hands Only” CPR at the Kosciusko County 4 H Fair July 8th-13th from 3:00-9:00pm.
Multi-Township EMS has developed the One Heart “Hands Helping Hearts” Program to teach bystanders CPR. The goal is to train 5000 people CPR in the 2013. As of July 1, 2013 Multi-Township EMS has taught 1600 people this year.
Hands-only CPR focuses on the first few minutes after cardiac arrest because the lungs and blood contain enough oxygen to keep vital organs healthy for that amount of time.
Chest compressions provide the blood flow needed to improve survival chances until paramedics arrive on the scene, authorities said.
Citizen CPR is a fast-growing movement to empower bystanders to save a life when someone suffers sudden cardiac arrest. We are glad to partner with the American Heart Association, fire departments and Kosciusko Community Hospital to bring sidewalk CPR into local communities.
